I was wondering if the Electric Fan assembly out of a C5 Corvette is the proper assembly to fit the V8 conversion AC Delco Radiator on s10v8.com ?

The radiator on s10v8 is a late 80s (c4) corvette radiator(I believe?). If I had it to do over again I would buy these fans. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TWIN-11-INCH-COOLING-FAN-EXTREME-SERIES_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33600QQihZ016QQi temZ260129335396) The entire setup measures the same as my current setup (spal dual 11") but flows more cfm. It fits the corvette radiator perfect.

i dont think youd need the radiator unless your planing on haveing an extremely bored block or if you live in nevada

Yeah I was thinking the 4.3L radiator will be sufficient.
Can I get any second yesses?

Some people have done it with no problems others have had problems with overheating even with a very mild motor. If you keep the 4.3 rad you will not be able to move it into the forward position, thus limiting the space between your accessories and the rad. Only you can decide if the $$ you save is worth possibly having to redo your work if your rad/fan setup does not work.

Forgive me but, what do you mean by moving it into the "forward position" ?

In the photo below you will notice that the radiator is actually inside the rad support and not behind it. The radiator is now in the position where the condenser normally is. Now the trick comes if you want to keep AC you will need to figure out how to fit it in front. I 've never seen a picture of someone using the stock condenser and doing this but I have seen people use skinnier and/or smaller condensers. I got rid of the stock AC and put in a VintageAir setup since I made my own dash anyways. The condenser I chose was able to fit up front with some modification to the hood latch support.

You did a very nice job, that looks ace.
I suppose I'll just save myself the trouble and buy the C4 Radiator. I never planned on NOT buying it anyways. I mean, if I'm gonna be putting a few grand into this I might as well do everything the RIGHT way.

So I suppose it would be right in assuming the radiator is just resting in the spot the Condensor was? No cutting (besides the rad cap access)? I see the brackets on s10v8 that hold it in place.

The "right way" is an opinion, nothing more. Guys have had success with both radiators. I think the best option for you is to buy the S10V8 swap manual and read through the cooling chapter carefully, then decide for yourself once you have a base of facts and enough evidence to go one way or another.
The book is well worth the $30 or so after shipping. In return, it'll save you hundreds if not more. I only wish it went into Gen III and IV motors, but that's what the LSx swap "manual" is for.

THe fans on the pic look like LS1 fans off a LS1 Camaro. either way they do work great.
Now for radiator you can stay with the 4.3 radiator and the LS1 fans. It will cool it fine. The only problem I see is that the stock radiator, LS1 fans AND a V8 wont fit too well under the hood. Its actually fairly tight in my 4.3 and after having a V8 S-10, I dont see all that fitting in there. The reason why the 80ish vette radiator is so popular is because you can fit it where the ac condensor goes. That gives you an inch or two of extra space for bigger fans (like the LS1 fans). The problem is where do you put the ac condensor.

Do some trimming on the back-pieces of the grille and mount it outside the radiator support.
Like This.

only problem with that is that i dont think the stock condenser will fit because of the hood latch support without serious modification, or removal and only using pins, but I dont know how well just using pins works.

Yeah I never noticed that.
Well if I had a lifted truck like Rink's I could just put a small condensor behind the skid plate. lol.
There has to be some place that I can squeeze it, or a smaller one.
BTW who's truck is that?

You should be able to squeeze a condensor in if you use the vette radiator. 91xcabpro's pics shows exactly how tight the clearence is. From the specs posted the vette radiator is 1 3/8" thick. So you'll have a little room to play with. Now with my radiator it is exactly the inner width of the core support. I don't want to clutter you thread with my pics but they might help you get an idea.

Not exactly sure the measurements of my radiator but you get the idea. Plus it show you a hacked up 2nd gen core support!

So you're saying squeeze the condensor in BEHIND the radiator? Wouldn't that propose some a/c cooling issues?

No... put it infront like this picture.
http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o284/91xcabpro/accondenser.jpg
Being the width of the vette radiator is smaller than the width of the core support you should beable to fit it in there.(Definatly be a tight fit) I posted my pics to give you a visual of a different radiator in the forward position. Basicly a pro and con type of thing.

Just some random person from s10forum... first pick i could find of a stock 98+ support
from what i have read most guys just switch to a smaller condenser that will fit or one that will fit with some trimming of the latch bracket, but i dont know how much this would affect the cooling ability of your ac system

Yeah the S10 Condenser covers a lot of surface area, but I think a smaller condenser will work just as good, esp with an electric fan.
I'm sure I could almost completely trim away all I need of the latch bracket then reinforce it with some flat steel if I had to.

axeussevn, the S10V8 swap book will cover your condenser questions, even answering them with a product, placement of the condenser, and how to hook it up. I strongly urge you to buy and read over the book, many times. It'll give you plenty of insight on how the cooling system of a V8 S10 is handled, with detail. Besides wording it from the book, no one on here can do a better job in describing what the book says, other than photo copying the book and posting it here.
I would, but I just got unpacked and the scanner is still in one of the boxes.

This is interesting. Corvette Radiator Used, Condensor Relocated, 5.7L Clutch Fan used.

I would not advise diving in head first on any part of the swap.
