OK guys and gals I need some help from all of you. My Moms Blazer. rear hatch window won't release when you het the button. I know how to replace the iner workings but the problem is with out being able to open the glass I can't put the tail gate down to access everything. So I gues my question is how do I get the glass open now? any sugestions or tips that anyone has used in the past.
Thanks
Rich

can you not kinda pry the plastic on the inside of the hatch back some (i dont know what style she has if the glass opens seperate or if your talking about a one piece hatch). if you can pry that plastic and get to the latch then use a screwdriver and pop the latch. it will have a pull rod on it where it activates the latch

the panel is screwed on with 3 screws, but you can't get to them with the gate shut.........and you can't just pry it back.
mine did the same thing. i finally got pissed off enough that i used a dremel and cut a hole in the panel to get to the release. i priced the panel after-the-fact, and it is around $100. you may take it to the dealership, maybe they have a trick to get it open. the motor on mine was fine, a piece broke off of the release so i rigged it up with wire. but for some reason now, my interior light doesn't come on when i have the glass open??????

thanks that helps. I'm more inclined to use the second method and just rip off the interior pannel and just worry about replacing it later. before I do that any bodyelse got any ideas or sugestions.

i didnt say rip it off there....i own and work in a body shop and im tellin ya if ya take it to a dealer ship they will do this exact same thing. every panel has a certian amount of give in it before it will break. what im telling you to do it pull that panel out to that point just before it breaks. i have done it hundreds of times on peoples cars and trucks. ya just have to take it easy....listen to what the panel is doing and feel what it is doing. its really they only way it can be done and once you get the panel off just leave it off until you get the problem fixed.

Can you get to the upper hinge bolts in the glass and remove them? Then swing the top of the glass out and get to the bolts at the lock piece that is on the bottom of the glass. With the glass off the truck you may be able to look down inside the tailgate and get to the release mechanism. Keep us posted on what you do. :)

there is a screw that holds the panel on right where you would pull it. the first is a pic of the screw. the second is a pic of my solution ;)

I just pulled back the plastic so I could see in. on the back side there is a lever you can only see the top rounded portion at this point. It is right next to a white plastic box, looks like it should hold electical. you push it to the left and there you have it. what was broken was the arm on the actuator, (dealer part only) any questions just ask.
