My s10 ran out of gas then tried to restart it after filling it and it it wont start
My truck wont start?? is it the fuel injector or injectors? the pump runs I replaced the fuel filter, it runs if I spray starting fluid in the carb, its a 1996 4.3 lt engine. and again it ran out of gas before all this happened then I filled the tank half way it cranks it needs a new O2 sensor or is it the carb just clogged or did I ruin the pump by running it out? any help please would be gr8! and if anyone has diagrams of all this

have you checked fuel pressure? fuel pump may not be making enough pressure.

Would running my tank to empty cause my pump to take a dump? when i took the fuel filter off i turned the ignition and it was squirtin gas out, I was also told that my injectors or injector might have took a dirtnap from running the tank empty and running all the old stuff through it. I'm wondering if there is a fuel clog from the filter to the carb? is that possible? and can i see somehow with a pressure test to tell?

that doesn't mean that you are getting the correct fuel pressure. If you fuel is not pushed at 55psi cranking and 45running it is not getting enough fuel and therefor starving it.

I too had the same prob. not to bad to fix tho. You should never run your ride with less then 1/4 tank of gas. The fuel is what keeps your pump cool. If you run your tank low all the time you have a far greater chance of burning up a fuel pump or having it work like crap. Also changed the fuel pump too. Now that sucked! I would say fuel pump in this case. Not enough psi. If one or more of your injectors on you spider assembly were clogged, it would run like it had a miss like your timing was off or somthing. It took me an hour to figgure that one out.

Running your truck out of fuel can ruin a marginal fuel pump. The gas also cools the pump so the margin pump will get warmer without being submersed in gas.
I have had to replace several customers fuel pumps due to them running out of gas. Sometimes on GM vehicles, if you bang on the bottom of the tank pretty hard it will go ahead and run again for a short while. If you have to replace the fuel pump, it is easier to unbolt and move the bed back 3 feet to get at the pump.
